Making the wardrobe accessible to wheelchair users
For someone in a wheelchair, completing everyday tasks can be more difficult. Many features in a home are fundamentally designed for people who are standing.
Something as simple as reaching one's clothes in the wardrobe can be a significant challenge for a wheelchair user.
A wardrobe is often equipped with pull-out wire baskets in the lower section and a clothing rack in the upper section. In such a setup, it's not possible to reach the hangers on the clothing rack from a seated position.
How can we make a wardrobe wheelchair-accessible?
By installing an electric height-adjustable clothing rack in the wardrobe, entirely new possibilities for efficient clothing storage are provided, catering to both standing and seated individuals.
When the clothing rack is lowered, it extends in front of the wardrobe, making it accessible from a seated position. The height adjustment is 700mm downward and 614mm outward.

The operation of an electric wardrobe rail is carried out via a remote control or a wall-mounted button.
Do you need a special wardrobe to have a height-adjustable clothing rack?
No special wardrobe is required to install the Butler 720. A regular standard wardrobe with a frame made of melamine (particle board) or MDF with a thickness of at least 16mm is suitable.
What should the width of the wardrobe be when installing an electric clothing rack?
The Butler 720 is available in two variants. The narrow version is adjustable from 600 to 900mm, and the wide version is adjustable from 1000 to 1600mm.
The image series demonstrates the difference in height between the clothing rack in a standard wardrobe and a wheelchair-adapted wardrobe.
In its lowered position, it's easy to lift the hanger off the clothing rack from a seated position.
